Calling All Volunteers!

It’s almost summer which means OSU Semester of Service students head back to their parents’ houses, high school students are off to various camps, and families take their vacations. This time of year we experience a transition in available volunteers that often leaves us wanting! We also open our Wednesday evening stocking shift to everyone during the summer. Students needing service hours (and teachers!) can now volunteer during the day, since they’re home from school. Minors will need a signed waiver form, which can be found online here. Please consider volunteering when you’re available this summer.

Mission Volunteer Workday

Memorial Day, May 27

It’s been quite a few months since our last Missions Volunteer Workday. We take these opportunities on days off, when they align with personal schedules, to do cleaning, repairs and other necessary non-routine tasks. Our next session is scheduled for Memorial Day, when many people are off work and school. If your BBQs are scheduled for Saturday or Sunday, please consider joining Amy that Monday!, May 27, at 10am. Sign up at tinyurl.com/h2hvolunteersignup

Sunday, May 12

On Mother’s Day, May 12, we will hold a collection for diapers and essential baby care supplies during worship services. Show your support for local mothers and families caring for infants by making a donation. Our volunteers, Becky and Susan, will be waiting outside worship spaces to take your donations at both First Community North (in the parking lot) and First Community South (outside the Crane Welcome Center).  Read about the importance of this drive in the May issue of On a Mission! monthly newsletter. Please give generously to support mothers in need!

Announcement from Pop-Up Pantry

Below is an email excerpt from Rose Kandel:

May 9, 2024
Dear Dedicated Pop Up Volunteers,
I cannot believe two years have passed since I took the Co-Lead position with Heart to Heart’s Pop Up Pantry.  Our team is on a two year rotation, and it is my time to step down and let our other dedicated volunteers take on the co-lead position.  My time will end this month.
Kathleen Hatcher has helped me co-lead for the past six months and will be stepping up to replace me.  Kathleen will be assisted by Carla Edlefson and Bobbie Doak.  Both have been long time volunteers with our Pop Up Team.
I have enjoyed working with you and look forward to seeing you all when I return in the fall.
Serving in Faith,
~Rose

“I have seen so many good deeds-people helped, lives improved-because someone cared.  Do what you can to show you care about other people, and you will make our world a better place.” ~Rosalynn Carter
