It’s Peanut-Butter-Jelly-Time! 🎤😂🍌

On September 15, we will be collecting jars of peanut butter and jelly in the parking lot of both church locations during worship services! Look for Susan outside FC South at 10am, and both Heidi and Kevin Orsini outside 9am and 11am worship services at FC North. As usual, we especially need jelly.

Donations

We have a new donation opportunity at the church: empty pill bottles. You can read more about it in the September issue of On a Mission! Have you ever wondered what donations the church collects or what to do with your donations? There are so many that it can be hard to keep track ! The flowchart below shows what each ministry collects and how.

Friendly Reminder

At Heart to Heart, our ministry is spread across 3 buildings spanning the entire FC South campus. With all the movement in and out of buildings, it may be hard to remember to keep tabs on everything. However, we ask that you make sure you are closing doors behind you when moving in and out of the buildings. Propping doors open for any period of time allows for pests to enter the building. If you see a door propped open and no one is around, please make sure it get closed!

Address Verification

Per MOFC requirements, partner food pantries such as Heart to Heart, are required to verify addresses for clients at least once per year. While it is easy to do this with new clients, it can be hard to remember with our regulars who haven’t moved in a while. For these reasons, we will be making a concerted effort to verify addresses over the next several weeks. If you’re working in the Drive-Thru on Tuesday or Thursday mornings, please pay special attention to this information and Yohan’s morning instructions. We have already started to give a heads-up to clients in the Drive-Thru.

Ohio State University’s Semester of Service

“Semester of Service is a leadership and service program that matches Ohio State students with local nonprofit organizations, where they serve on a weekly basis throughout the course of a semester. Students also participate in an educational curriculum to help prepare them to act as servant leaders in the Columbus community.  This experience provides students the opportunity to gain insight into the values and function of community service, while making a semester-long commitment to serve at a single agency.”

For the past two years, we have partnered with OSU’s SOS program. The program provides leadership, service and community engagement opportunities for the students. It also means that Heart to Heart has dedicated students every semester that are regularly volunteering. This semester, we will welcome Omar and Eliana as our OSU SOS volunteers! Omar’s first volunteer shift is September 17 and he will be working Tuesday morning’s drive-thru shifts. Eliana’s first day is September 24, and she will volunteer on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please introduce yourselves and welcome them to the volunteer team when you see them!

Social Media

Make sure you are following the Heart to Heart on both Facebook and Instagram. Social media is one of the best ways for the world to share information! Every time you like or comment on one of our posts, it promotes engagement across the platform. When you share our posts, the information is immediately visible to those in your circle! It quickly helps spread our message- whether it be resource information, a plea for donations, or a volunteer opportunity. Sharing on social media is an easy way to support our mission. Check out these posts from the past week to see what you may have missed.
