Friendly Reminder

At Heart to Heart, our ministry is spread across 3 buildings spanning the entire FC South campus. With all the movement in and out of buildings, it may be hard to remember to keep tabs on everything. However, we ask that you make sure you are closing doors behind you when moving in and out of the buildings. Propping doors open for any period of time allows for pests to enter the building. If you see a door propped open and no one is around, please make sure it get closed!

Minor Code of Conduct

Please review the Minor Code of Conduct for First Community Church (click the image below to enlarge). This policy has been approved by our Personnel Committee as an official policy regarding the safety of children in our ministries. We ask for your patience over the next several weeks as we adjust our ways to follow these guidelines. When volunteering, do your best to use good judgement, err on the side of safety, and allow us grace to figure it all out. Every one of us is responsible for the safety of the children at First Community, and together we can help to prevent abuse in their lives.

Look for more information from church leadership in the August edition of firstnews. Questions about the policy in general should be directed to Julie Richards, Director of K-5 Ministry. Questions about how the policy effects the work we do specifically at Heart to Heart can be directed to Amy Caskie, Director of Missions.

This Sunday

Monthly Drives

Our next monthly donation drive during worship services is this Sunday, July 14. We will be collecting skin care products, especially lotion and sunscreen. Believe it or not, lotion is one of our most requested personal care items! Look for our volunteers, Becky and Susan, outside worship spaces at all services.

We collect these items, along with food, toiletries, and baby care products throughout the year. If you want to donate after Sunday services, you’re welcome to do so. Please click here for instructions on donating.

Perhaps you want to wait to take advantage of the upcoming Amazon Prime Day deals next week, but we also saw skincare sales at Target Circle Week and Walmart Deals Days. Seems like July is the time for these kind of sales, so consider checking out your regular grocery and drug stores too!

Invitation from Senior Minister

Dear Friend,

This Sunday, Rev. John Girard, Minister of Mission and Justice, will preach at all three services, 9 am at FC North under the tent, 10 am at FC South in the sanctuary, and 11 am at FC North in the sanctuary. His sermon, “Spices, Aqua Net, and a Little More Time” is based on Mark 16: 1-8.

This will be John’s first time preaching for us. I’m writing to all involved in the Mission and Justice Ministries to invite you to attend this Sunday. This is a unique opportunity for us to support John during his first time in the First Community pulpit, and your presence would mean a lot to him!

One thing we can always count on at our services is exceptional music. The Common Grace Band will lead the 9 am service, and this week, we have a special treat with summer choirs leading worship at 10 and 11. Attending these services promises to be a delightful way to set the tone for the week ahead!

Grace and Peace to you,

~Glen

BYOB

July marks the beginning of our BYOB volunteer campaign! Bring a friend or family member to volunteer with you during your regular shift. Show them around the place and work side-by-side giving them training on the job!

When you sign up online to BYOB, indicate just 1 volunteer and in the comments you can list their name or “buddy”. This way we know you’ll have a friend accompanying you and not volunteering on their own. You will act as their liaison, teaching them what you know, showing them the ropes, and encouraging their future participation.
